Luminarias are a traditional Mexican Christmas lantern, originally consisting of a candle set in sand inside a paper bag usually placed along a roadside or sidewalk as a Christmas decoration. These were created by my teammates and I in a group I participated in responsible for developing a print product which we produced, marketed and sold at the annual end of year print sale at Madison College. We brainstormed ideas for products and in the end decided as a group on using my original concept of decorative paper lanterns. My chief responsibility in the group was to create the illustrations for the lanterns, based on a woodland animals theme - as part of the general theme for the sale of “Nesting”. I assisted also with creating the screens we used to print the designs, as well as screen printing and packaging them in rolls with a stitched covering.
